• It came into existence in the year 1975 by an Act of the Legislature to reform, recognize and consolidate school education in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. 

Examination Pattern:

The following Annual and Bi-annual examination  shall be conducted by the Board every year on the dates to be announced separately for each examination: -  

i.   Secondary School Examination.
ii.  Higher Secondary Examination part-I 
iii. Higher Secondary Examination part-II
iv. Diploma in Elementary education.
v.  Certificate course in Physical Education.

• Overhauling, checking, adjustment of transmission system with clutch free play.
• Removing changing the fluid and oil seal and adjustment of front shocker 2-wheeler
• Greasing and adjusting of wheel bearing. Checking and adjusting brake shoe.
• Checking and tightening of chair.
• Layout of emission control system and finding the fault of different censors and actuator.
• Familiarization with layout of bi-fuel system and their working.

Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) first started in 1974, but after 1996, when the University (NEHU) discontinued the Pre-University Course, it was taken over by the Board, since then all the financial matters, relating with SSLC and HSSLC branch were being dealt by the Board itself.

The legislation for the setting up of the Meghalaya Board of School Education to regulate, supervise and control school education in the State of Meghalaya came into force on 25th September, 1973 under the Meghalaya Board of School Education Act, 1973 (Meghalaya Act 10, 1973). The Board was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Late Captain W. A. Sangma on 19th October, 1973 in the State Central Library Auditorium, Shillong
