• The Himachal Pradesh Board of Secondary Education came into existence in 1969 through an Act No.14 of 1968. 
• At present, the Board conducts examinations for the 8th,10th, Plus One and Plus Two classes. 
• In addition, departmental examination like J.B.T., T.T.C and P.V.T.C are also being conducted by the Board.

 Pattern for Exam:

Admission to class IX and X :-

• For admission in class IX - must have passed the Middle Standard Examination from the Board or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board/University or must have passed class VIII examination recognized by the Education Department of a State Government /Union Territory. 
• In order to be admitted to class X of an institution affiliated to the Board a student must have completed a regular course of studies and passed the class IX examination from an institution affiliated to a recognized Board.

Admission to XII :

Admission in Class XI is based on the following basis :

a) Science Group - Must have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate;

b) Commerce Group - Must have got at least 45% marks in aggregate;

c) Humanities Group - Must have obtained at least 33% marks in aggregate.

d) Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST candidates shall be given for admission in Science and Commerce group only.
